Chaos & Ruin
Long before memory's can grasp, when powers reigned over mortals, there existed gods and goddesses…
They ruled from lofty heights, cherished by their followers. Across every land, these beings nurtured human life from its dawn to the age of knowledge and script. Every culture worshipped their own deities—Mayans, Aztecs, Greeks, Romans, and Nordic Vikings. Centuries passed in peace and serenity, until comfort bred pride and arrogance among humans. They began questioning their need for these 'Gods'. That marked the onset of chaos.
From every corner of the Earth, worshippers rebelled, cursing their former benefactors. Monuments fell, temples burned, and sacrifices ceased. Altars lay bloodless, harvests unoffered, prayers unsaid. Humanity collectively decided they no longer required their Gods. Discord spread like wildfire through mankind.
Cursing humanity and finding no place in our world, the deities pooled their strength to forge another realm—a mirror of our own, yet different in subtle ways. They populated it with humans taken from Earth, divided among themselves by their chosen peoples and lands. Thus, THRAE was born.
As ages passed, the gods faded into legend. Some took on new names—Demons and Angels—while most slipped into obscurity. Not all wielded their powers benevolently; a hierarchy emerged among them, with rules enforced by severe punishments.
One such goddess was Astarte, known in Greece as Aphrodite, goddess of love and fertility. The human rebellion struck her deeply; she had only bestowed love, offspring, and happiness upon her worshippers—or so she believed. Unable to comprehend her rejection, she descended into madness, her heart and morals twisted.
Obsession, insecurity, and self-delusion darkened her reason and sense of honor. Once a giver of life, she now wrought death and chaos, employing dark forces to enforce her will. Convinced of her own righteousness, she declared, "Through death, chaos, and tragedy, they will know true love and life." This became her creed.
From the first sunrise, the people of THRAE were captive, each god taking their followers as punishment for Earth's rebellion. Families were torn apart, civilizations shattered, communities razed. Passage between THRAE and Earth was forbidden, except for a few gods who retained love for humanity. They created a special connection back to Earth through a realm known as the Hollow.
The Hollow, once a pocket realm of time and space separate from THRAE, was now reconnected to our world, though the method of travel between remains a mystery. Hidden within its ruins, dangers await. In THRAE, no one is safe.
